7-20-08 Another clinic at Spring Farm. We had brought 2 kittens and 4 adults. One of the kittens was too small, but all the others were done.
7-12-08 This week we spayed and neutered some of our kittens. We still have 3 more yet to do. Remember adoption fees are only $15 and they are sterilized and have their shots.
7-05-08 Over the last couple weeks we unfortunatley had 5 out of 7 kittens from a litter pass away. The cause is unknown. The 2 remaining kittens (E.T. and Gizmo) are getting stronger each day, but still have a long ways to go. Please keep your fingers crossed for these 2 littles ones.
6-28-08 Today NY Feral Cats held our Open House. Much to our disappointment only one person showed up to support us. If we don't start receiving help from the community we will not be able to continue sterilizing these cats and kittens.
5-25-08 3 more kittens are welcomed into NYFC. That has us up to 15 kittens. Help is greatly needed now more than ever. Kittens are expensive. Not only do we need money for food and toys, but vet expenses as well. Please check out Adopt Me page if you are interested in a kitten.
5-18-08 The pet expo was a bit hit. We were not able to take out little babies with us since they were not able to get shots yet, but we did have Smokey and Topsy from the website there. NY Feral Cats was able to raise over $100!! Thank you to all those who made donations. Anyone who entered our raffle, please know that it is still going on and will continue through to our open house June 28th 11am to 3pm. We will be doing our drawing then.
5-12-08 Today one of the males from the 7 new colony has been neutered and we have taken in 5 babies. These little ones will be at the Pet Expo so if you are interested in seeing them, please visit us there or email to set an appointment. There are still the 7 other kittens that aren't old enough to be adopted and 2 young adults that are list on the adopt me page.
5-10-08 NY Feral Cats has been notified of yet more cats in the Clayville area. There are about 7 cats 5 males and 2 females with 10 kittens.
4-23-08 One more cat from the Clayville colony spayed.
Kitten season starts off. Today we have taken in a mama cat and 7 kittens that are estimated at 1 week old. We will keep mama until she weans the kittens, have her spayed and then try to find her a home. We will also socialize the kittens and have them up for adoption.
4-18-08 2 more cats from the colony have been altered at Stevens-Swan Humane Society of Oneida County today and will be released back into the colony since they are not becoming social at all.
4-16-08 1 cat from the Clayville colony was neutered at Paris Hill Cat Hospital.
3-16-08 Today we attended a clinic offered at Spring Farm Cares. We had a total of 10 cats spayed and neutered. 7 of the were from the Clayville colony and 3 were from our first colony in Cassville. We were able to adopt out 2 cats from the Clayville colony to a farm where they are enjoying life.
We found out some bad news though. We are not able to get into another clinic until July!! That is during mating season and if we are not able to continue with our spaying and neutering until then, we are going to have a lot more unwanted kittens on hands. We are asking for just $1.00 to help us try to get more done before that happens.
Please visit the Donations page to help out.
2-14-08 Turns out one of our boys was a girl. In any event her and her brother went to their new home today. That is a total of 4 cats that have been altered from the Clayville colony so far. Topsy is still looking for a home and NY Feral Cats is in desperate need of donations. We will not be able to afford to spay and neuter anymore cats without help from the community.
2-4-08 Our first kitten was taken in by the Humane Society and will find a good home though them. The other 3 were altered today and are doing very well. Topsy, though skittish, is doing very well. One of the boys is also coming around. We hope to find homes for both of them. The third boy should be returning to the colony once his recovery period is over.
