New York Feral Cats was founded in July of 2007 in hopes to completely spay and neuter a feral cat colony located in Cassville, NY. Since then we have also started working on another colony in Clayville, NY.

When we started, the colony in Cassville had approximately 60-70 cats and kittens. Keep this in mind: Cats usually have an average of 4-6 kittens per litter. Cats gestation period is normally 58-65 days. If 20 cats have 5 kittens each that means another 100 new kittens in about 2 months !!!!!

New York Feral Cats does not offer spay/neuter assistance. Please check out the Spay/Neuter Assistance page for help. What New York Feral Cats will provide at this time, is advice on catching feral cats/kittens, managing a feral cat colony, information on where to try to obtain help for spays/neuters and in some cases transport for cats/kittens to the vets to be sterilized.

There are thousands of feral cats that need to be spayed/neutered.
Though there are many organizations that can help in offering low costs spaying/neutering, the overall cost is still high. If you take a feral cat colony of 50 and multiply that by an average of $50 per cat you are up to $2500.
